Fall has Arrived

The leaves on our maple trees have started to turn a beautiful orange.  This coming weekend would be a opportune time to go hiking, collect leaves, and enjoy nature (in our area).  I'm betting the canoes will be out (for the last time) at the state park too.  Laundry dried on the line, this time of year, smells so good.

Monday was a major clean up day.  It rained Sunday, so I was glad to see a clear forecast.  They kids managed to use every towel and washcloth in the house.  My clotheslines worked overtime.  They will work overtime today as well.

Despite the heavy work load this week, I am gaining ground on finishing the granny square scarves.  I attached the one in the photo above, in a different manner, but still using the continuous join method.  I'm finishing up another one, but hope to have a good amount to donate by the 12th of October.

Here's the cotton dishcloth I made.  I decided to use the single crochet method to attach them, and made the edging with a "ridge" to match the ridges on the top.  Personally, the "sew together" method is my least favorite.  I will give it a whirl in my kitchen, to see how well it works.  I needed a little pink in my kitchen for Breast Cancer Awareness month too.

Alias is behaving very well.  The only issue we have is getting him on the "potty" routine.  However, this morning he went right around the house looking for someone who was up, then right to the door.  He's getting it, but has had a few more accidents.   He is a lover, and is a bit finicky about letting my son touch his feet to clip his nails.  Every so often, he tries to clip a few more, so Alias gets used to it.  He's already learning the "go lay down" command (which is what we say when we are eating in the kitchen, where we do not feed them any of our food while we ourselves are eating).  He goes right into the living room, and waits.  I'll try to remember to get some photos next time.

It's that time of year, when I start thinking about National Novel Writing Month.  It starts November 1st.  I better make a "to-do" list for October, so I can have more writing time in November.  Which means, finishing up homemade Christmas gifts (which I got very behind with).

The goats are dried off now.  We will be buying organic milk until spring again.  I have been lucky to find a few gallons on clearance for around $3.00.  Most brands now sell for $5.99 and up for organic. Or we'll do without, and eat eggs or oatmeal.  Pancakes, waffles and my steal cut oats use milk as an ingredient.

Well, I better get this post posted, the towels won't get on the clothesline by themselves.   The kids have another fog delay, so they won't be up for another two hours.  I need to make time to mix up some after school snack muffins today too.  I'm thinking it will be banana, and possibly another recipe using baby food.

That washcloth is beautiful. The colors are perfect together.
Leaves are changing color here.

Thanks Emma,
I love the color combination too. I think a bedspread cover would be beautiful in the same colors. I used a rose color and somewhat of a sage green. I will have to see if I can get those colors in #10 cotton thread or maybe worsted weight yarn.

I don't like the pets in the kitchen when I'm cooking or when we're eating either. When I'm cooking, if they're underfoot, hot food could get spilled on them, and begging at the table is just plain bad manners.

Long ago though, I had a tiny toy poodle (a whole 4.5#) who would go just to the other side of the kitchen door to lay down, and would stretch one foot out onto the kitchen side of the floor, as if to say - "Okay! I'm out, but I'm still in too." LOL She was a real sweetie who passed over 15 years ago, and I miss her still.

God bless.
