Food Recalls Oh My!

Yesterday's newspaper had an article about a lettuce recall  that involves listeria.  Just a few days ago, I read about a ground beef recall, and weeks before that a cantaloupe recall.

Today I am thankful for the swiss chard that is still growing in my garden.

It is starting to get the nickname "poor man's lettuce" in our house.  It's so easy to grow too.

While spending an hour clearing out the garden for next year, I noticed some swiss chard that needed picked.  I decided to slice it up to top bean burritos again.

Love having a garden! I'm going to try more greens next year. My first try didn't go so well.

I don't remember seeing so many recalls on food as there are in America today! When I was a kid, we had our own garden. My parents grew tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, and corn. It was a lot of hard work but also fun to grow our own vegetables. I would like to start my own small vegetable garden next spring.
